Sequence & Cause and Effect - with ANOTHER YouTube Video!! :)

Once again I created some material to go along with a YouTube video to teach cause and effect & sequence.  My kids had a great time and we decided as a class to have them find one of their own!  They were required to complete a cause and effect graphic organizer and find a YouTube video that was less than 2 minutes in length.  Since they all have a Google Docs account, they copied and pasted their link into a Google Doc and shared it with me. :)

Here is a link to the latest practice sheets that I created! You can find them HERE at my TPT store!

Here is the project that I assigned.  Leave a comment if you are interested in a editable copy!!

Another YouTube lesson...."For the Birds" :)

As I have posted before, I LOVE to use YouTube videos to teach reading skills.  We watched "For the Birds" and we worked on cause and effect, sequence, and how to make an inference.  The kids loved it and did a GREAT job.  Click HERE to find it on my TPT store.

Study Island Class Competition Chart

We are fortunate to have Study Island as an excellent resource in our school district.  The other 4th grade teacher and I have a blue ribbon competition from mid-term to mid-term during the year.  Most of the time we require our students to earn 30 blue ribbons during this time.  We give class time and they also can work on their iPads (our district is 1:1) at home if they have the internet.  Here is a picture of the chart that I put up in my class to track blue ribbons and how many my students have earned. At the end of the time we have a party for those who have earned 30 ribbons.

Click here to download the chart for free.  I made two different sizes and also made the ribbon editable.

I hope others can use this product!

Free Candy Corn Tags....

I love to do fun things in my classroom, so I started doing these candy jars (or candy Ziplock bowls :)) for each holiday.  Here is a picture of my October candy jars.  I have students look at the jar all week and then put a guess for the competition and the winner TAKES ALL!!.  I have made two bowls of candy corn and a baggie of candy pumpkins.  Hopefully the kids will have fun with this when we get back from Fall Break!!!  Check out the tags for FREE on my TPT link below! :)

Reading Street by Scott Foresman

In my 4th grade class I use the Reading Street book with my class to hit our reading skills and cover the Indiana standards.  Here are a few of the weekly stories that I have made additional material to use with the stories.  I hope you enjoy them! Like always, if you see something that you think I could change, please let me know! I'm adding news ones as we read them.  Well, I am trying to, but I'm a little behind!!

Facebook page off to a GREAT start!

I just created my Happy Days in 4th Grade Facebook page last night and already have 69
likes! I'm so excited to get my blog, FB page and Teachers Pay Teachers page up and going!

I have been inspired by many SCSD2 teachers across the district too!  I am blessed to work in a school system that is 1:1 with mini iPads (K-2), iPads (3-6) and MacBooks 9-12!! I have learned more about technology and how to incorporate it into my teaching in the last 2 years than in my first 12 years of teaching because of the opportunities that SCSD2 has put at my fingertips!

I am working on an AWESOME freebie once I reach 100 likes on my FB page!

My Classroom is Done...well, sort of...:)

Well, I'm not finished with my room, but I'm done enough to blog about it.  I wasn't really sure what to do in my room this year.  I don't really have a theme, but I did buy a set called "Classroom Decor Mega bundle: Patterns Galore from Hope King on TPT.  I started with this set and tried to match up my border, etc as best as I could!  I also made a lot of my signs, desk name tags, etc that is around my room.

These bins sit behind my desk and I LOVE how the labels turned out!

The front of the room where my document camera is located.

My iPad rules.  I'm going to find a better place for them, but here is where they "hang" for now.  You can find these on my TPT store HERE.

I LOVE taking pictures of my class, in fact, I took over 700 photos last year, so I thought this year I would designate a board just for photos!

I love this table.  I covered it with grey and black chevron contact paper that I got online at Amazon.

Reading chairs!  My kids love to sit and read a book, take a test, or just hang out  to talk.  Since my classroom (and school, and DISTRICT ) are 1:1, my kids like to sit here and play on their iPads!!

Here is my AR/AM board.  As students achieve their goals throughout the nine weeks, I will move their name down the chart to 100%.  I'm not completely done with this board because the AM doesn't have any math related materials around it like my AR side does!

Reading skills wall....Each nine week we are covering different reading skills.  I decided this year to put up the graphic organizer that we use for each skill and the books that we have read where we have identified those skills.

Top Writers in the Class will see their paper displayed here!

I love reading quotes and I love the Cricut machine!

Obviously, I love lamps too! :)

My "Welcome to ourPad" board is outside of my classroom. Thanks to my friend Michelle for the cute little iPads that she made!!  She and Tracy from 4th Grade Dynamic Duo have helped me tremendously already this year!  It is so nice to have other teachers in the district to call on when you need something!

Because of Winn-Dixie - Reading Street

I love starting off the year reading "Because of Winn-Dixie" out of our Reading Street literature book.  I normally read the first chapter of the book since we only get an excerpt from the book in our Reading Street book.  I have created this packet that I used in my class this year.  It includes vocabulary list, spelling lists, advanced and adapted spelling lists, word analysis, vocabulary matching cards and reading comprehension questions.

I hope you all can benefit from this resource!!! Check it out here at my TPT store!

LOVE Erin Condren!

I was so excited when my classroom planner from Erin Condren arrived at my house yesterday!  If you haven't ever seen one, get online and look her up!  She has amazing products that are perfect for anyone.  I was amazed at how my planner was packaged....Fancy box, purple tissue paper with a cute sticker, and the best of all was the FREE labels and stickers they added into the box for me.  Oh, and I  got TWO codes for $ off of my next purchase that DON'T expire! It was a good day!
