12 Days of Christmas Tags

Last year my teaching partner and I decided to do the 12 days of Christmas with our classes and give them a small treat each day.  We had no idea how much our students would love this.  We figured after eating the small treat they would throw out the tags, but we were wrong!  Our students started hanging the tags off of their desks and then had to move them to their cubbies to show them off.  I hope you and your students enjoy these as much as we did!

Fruit Rainbow....to our pot of GOLD! :)

My teaching partner at Wooten's Fourth Grade Wonders found a Pinterest activity that was in the shape of a rainbow and ended with a pot of gold.  Our students LOVED it and actually most ALL of them ate ALL of the fruit!  It amazes me each year when my students don't know what some fruit tastes like.  We had fun making our rainbow and then sharing with with our kids!  Thanks to all the parents who sent in fruit for this activity!

St. Patrick's Day Treats!

I absolutely LOVE to do things for my students.  I'm not sure if other people notice, but the more little things you do for them the harder they work for you!  For St. Patrick's Day, I made these bags  with Trix cereal and had them on their desks in the morning.  I have done the 12 Days of Christmas and many other little treats throughout the year to bring a smile to their day in the morning.  I get excited to see how they respond to a note and a treat.  :)  I found these cute tags at this blog and copied them on green cardstock.

Book Series...

How many times have you been asked by students, "what book is next????"

Well, My good friend and old librarian used to label book according to which book they were in the series.  I started to do this in my room and my students loved it.  I've taken a picture below of how I do it in my classroom.  I eventually would like to have all my series book on one shelf so students can find them easily.  I LOVE this website because you can search by the author and see the order in which the author wrote their books.

Daily Critical Standards Review {TEST Prep}

Many times when teaching we cover a topic and move on.  This is typical for many teachers because we have so many standards to cover in a year!!!  Well, in math I noticed that my students weren't retaining some of the math concepts that we had covered, so I made these Daily Critical Standards Review sheets.  I give them one every day of the week for them to work on and it is a review of everything that we have covered so far during the year.  I have seen tremendous gain from when we first started with these sheets.  I am working on more sets with a few more added math concepts that students need to be proficient in by test time.

Area and Perimeter Review - {ISTEP Prep}

My students have had a hard time this year with taking area and perimeter to the next level.  The can  add up all the side or multiply two numbers, but can't do the more complex questions.  I made this scoot game for my students to practice doing more multistep problems for area and perimeter.  Hopefully this will help us when it comes time to take ISTEP this year.

Valentine's Day

I love coming up with presents for my kid's teachers, and for my students.  Most of my ideas come from Pinterest, but I like making my own tags. :)  Here are a few things that I did for Valentine's Day for my students and my kids teachers.

FaceTime with my class!

I was fortunate enough to go with my husband on a trip he earned through work to Grand Cayman last week!  I was having a great time there and got to FaceTime with my class too! I have such an amazing teaching partner and AWESOME technology in my school system!! My teaching partner had my class and hers get together and ask questions one morning, then in the afternoon I called them back and answered all their questions!  It was such a great time!!! At one point I wasn't sure about some of the questions that they were asking, so an employee of the resort stopped by and got to FaceTime with my class!

.  They LOVED it! :)

I HATE reading logs, but LOVE this book!!

If you are big on Reading Logs, AR points or just reading strictly for comprehension, you need to read this book!!!  This book will (or should) open your eyes about why kids read!  I started talking to my students about reading logs about 4 years ago and they were VERY honest with me...they said they lied, their parents lied and that they didn't read.  Well, I had a feeling about all of that and threw out their reading logs.  We started writing letters back and forth to each other about what they were reading and it was AMAZING!!! They were pulling out all the skills that we were working on in class and applying it to their books (cause/effect, compare/contrast, conflict, point of view, etc)!!  Enjoy this read!!  Thanks to Diane Meyer for this recommendation!! :)

FREE Valentine's Day Goodies!

I know that I'm a little behind on things, but I hit my 100 likes on FB in November and didn't get my Freebie up, so here it is!! I have several students who tear, poke, and draw on their name tags, so I decided to make some for February! :)  I hope you enjoy.  Oh, and there is a tag for a Valentines gift for my students too (make two cuts in the heart and then stick a pen or pencil through it!)  I love doing thing for them, so I though they might enjoy this too!
